We live in a country where the culture of reading isn’t very strong with only 5% of parents reading to their children, where only 14% of the population are active readers, and only 9%-21% of schools have libraries. Our Grade 5 students’ literacy levels are on par with Grade 3 readers worldwide 10% of the total population is illiterate. Governments rarely advocate change, it is usually left up to individuals and organisations to implement solutions to massive problems, and our country’s literacy levels is a huge problem.
By the way of Sponsorship from Corporations , Calm In Storm has been actively involved with trying to develop both literacy and self-development within the previously disadvantaged communities. Due to the nature of the books, the recipients benefit twofold, a gift of a book, and access to tools that will help them develop themselves.
There are countless people, schools, NGO’s and NPO’s that are in need of books and literacy promotion.
Calm In Storm is involved with its own initiatives that need Corporate sponsorship funding. If you would like to hear about them then please Contact us
